Long Island Malls That Are Officially Open
Now that phase 4 of reopening has already begun, many malls across Long Island are finally open to the public. While this new beginning allows for people to go back to a somewhat normal routine, there are new business hours and regulations for each of these places. Here are some of the biggest malls on Long Island that are open and what they require from customers:
Roosevelt Field Mall
Location: Garden City
Hours: 11 AM - 7PM Monday through Saturday, 12-6PM on Sundays
Regulations: Masks must be worn inside at all times. All employees must participate in a health screening, made to ensure that they don’t come to work if they exhibit COVID or flu-like symptoms. There will be limitations to the number of people allowed inside, play areas will be closed, and furniture and restrooms will have safety spacing.
Smith Haven Mall
Location: Lake GroveHours: 11 AM - 7PM Monday through Saturday, 12-6PM on Sundays
Regulations: Masks are required. By using the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) approved products and regulations, there will be constant sanitizing and disinfecting of high-traffic areas. These areas include entrance ways, dining areas, restrooms, and busy stores. They also are making sure there are masks and sanitizing wipes available throughout the mall.
Walt Whitman Shops
Location: Huntington StationHours: 11 AM - 7PM Monday through Saturday, 12-6PM on Sundays
Regulations: Masks must be worn at all times. Outdoor dining areas are open and available to the public, with social distancing maintained and CDC approved sanitization. You do not need to wear a mask while seated at your dining table, but if you get up at any time your mask must go back on.
Tanger Outlets
Location: Deer ParkHours: 11 AM - 7PM Monday through Sunday
Regulations: Masks must be worn indoors at all times. They will be providing anti-bacterial soap and hand sanitizer stations throughout the mall. There will be frequent cleanings of busy areas, including employee areas as well.
There are also many more malls that have opened since phase 4 began, so check your local malls to see their new hours and regulations. This new normal on Long Island might take time to get used to, but it is well worth it in the end.
